MHP is hiring an on-call Residential Advisor who will be responsible for all activity in all transitional housing and supportive housing locations. The Residential Advisor monitors all participant activity, ensuring that the house operates smoothly during their shift and maintains a level of safety and security for the residents occupying their units. Populations served include participants with lived experience of homelessness, mental health conditions and/or addiction, and who are in recovery. All positions are awake positions.
The Residential Advisor is an on-call role located at 1305 East Oak Lane Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19126. The pay rate is $16.00 per hour. Homeward Bound operates 24/7, therefore your schedule would be based on the needs of the program. The following shifts would be available for on‑call employees:
Monday–Friday: 7:30 AM–3:30 PM, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, 3:30 PM–11:30 PM, 4:00 PM–12:00 AM, and 12:00 AM–8:00 AM

What You'll Do
- Provide resources for participants in areas such as housing, medical, substance abuse, mental health, etc., ensuring they adhere to treatment/progress plans.
- Facilitate discussions, groups, and recreational activities during your shift.
- Assist participants in achieving their goal plan.
- Ensure the safety, security, and well‑being of participants through regular interaction during the shift.
- Maintain required documentation, including Log Book, daily Progress Notes, Shift Reports, Medication Administration Records (MARs), Incident Reports, housing applications, blood sugar records, and records of changes in participants' moods and behaviors.
- Meet with participants to assess progress and develop interventions.
- Check regularly throughout the night on participants' well‑being (if on a night shift).
- Accurately oversee medication administration during each shift.
- Prepare meals as necessary.
- Ensure all participant visits are documented immediately in the electronic health records (EHR) system.
- Perform other duties as assigned to fulfill MHP's mission and vision.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; one to two years of related work experience (including internships and volunteer work) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Peer Specialist certificate is preferred.
- Must possess a medication monitoring training certificate or the ability to be trained in medication monitoring.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to operate 6- and 12-passenger vans.
- Basic computer skills (desktop computing, email, timesheet management, electronic health records, Microsoft Office applications, internet research) and the ability to learn relevant software.
- Strong oral and written communication, cultural competence, interpersonal relationships, attention to detail, customer service, time management, autonomy, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work independently and complete assignments according to prescribed routines and standard practices.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while providing exemplary customer service.
- Certified in First Aid/CPR or the ability to obtain certification as required.

Physical Demands
- Sit at a desk with ergonomically appropriate equipment.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance and work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays/overtime as needed.
- Ability to drive a multi-passenger van (including at night) and physically support passengers during ingress/egress, or assist disabled individuals in an emergency evacuation.
- Walk around multiple MHP locations and community areas that may not be handicap accessible; may require entering/exiting personal or agency vehicles or using public transportation.
- Climb up to 3 flights of stairs multiple times per shift to complete participant check-ins.
- Remain awake during the entire shift, including break times.
- Frequent talking and listening; must be able to communicate clearly despite potential exposure to loud or vulgar language and hostile gestures.
