Celebrating Success: CPS Graduation at City Hall
On May 1st, Mental Health Partnerships hosted a special Certified Peer Specialist Graduation at Philadelphia City Hall with Council Person Rue Landau. The event underscored the importance of Mental Health Awareness Month and honored the achievements of five remarkable program graduates. This event, hosted by Council Person Rue Landau, was a testament to the personal growth and transformation of individuals who completed an intensive program. This program was designed to equip them with both technical and interpersonal skills crucial for success in the behavioral health field, showcasing their dedication and hard work.
The CPS Practicum, offered by Mental Health Partnerships, was a transformative "learn while you earn" practicum. This unique program provided vital support to those with lived experiences of mental health challenges, ensuring they could transition smoothly from roles in sectors like retail to meaningful careers in behavioral health. By offering financial stability during their training, the program helped eliminate barriers and promoted equity within the community.
"Seeing our graduates succeed and step into roles where they can make a real difference is incredibly rewarding. This program is about more than just career training; it's about empowering individuals and fostering a community of support," Denise Sherman, who has been running the program for over ten years, remarked.
We are deeply grateful for Council Person Rue Landau's support in hosting this graduation at City Hall. Their support not only honored the graduates but also amplified the message of mental health awareness and the value of peer support. This event was a testament to the strength and resilience of the graduates and the positive impact of community-focused mental health initiatives.
We joined in celebrating these graduates and the strides they made towards a brighter, more inclusive future in mental health care.
